Flight 1a finished a bit more than a level early with the bags coming out with 5:34 remaining in Level 19. Scott Gailfus bagged the chip lead with 743k, but Tang Jooce from Toronto stacked up 667k. Gail Flaherty and Terry Langdon were the only other players with more than 500k to end the night.

They are now hand-for-hand to the money in 1a of Event #3. I'm not able to watch much of it as I'm still covering the final five players in the Mix game, but I'll update the Day 1 pay and the qualifiers before the end of the night.
The Day 1a prizes are in and, as expected, 30 players will get a piece of the 1a prize money while at least 10 players will move on to Day 2. Action is now in Level 11 and they are about 20 players off the 1a money and about 40 away from an early end to Day 1a.
Because of limitations in the system, I can't properly enter Day 1 payouts in the backend. Instead, I'll be leaving the Payouts section blank until Day 2, and publishing my old payout grids for the Day 1 payouts. Below is the grid for how Day 1a payouts will go.
There are 72 players left in action in Day 1a of the 4-Flight with the final unofficial tally at 199 entries. If that holds, it will mean $65,670 in prizes was collected in today's flight, and 30 players will be getting a piece of that.
At least ten of those players will have to wait until Sunday for their payday as that is the 5% mark to end the day early, but money will start getting paid out today at 30th place and continue until there are 10 left, or until they get to the end of Level 20, whichever comes first.
They are nearing the end of entries now with Level 8 ticking down and the field at 195. That puts the prizes a bit shy of $65k but two more entries will push it above that threshold.
The action is now in Level 6 with 179 entries on the board. That puts the prizes at $59,070 from the opening flight so far with a bit more than an hour left to enter this first flight.
They are up to 16 entries in the opening flight of the 4-Flight game with Level 5 still underway. There are now a bit less than 2 hours left to get into today's flight, pulse three more flights to follow over the next two days.
They are nearing 160 entries in Day 1a of the 4-Flight with Level 5 about to begin. That puts the prizes at $52,470 and climbing, with a bit less than 2.5 hours left to enter.
Level 4 is just beginning and the field is at 138 entries now. That puts a bit more than $45k into the prizes from today's flight so far, but there are still about three hours of entry left.
Action is now in Level 3 with the field at 130 entries now and prizes of $42,900. Entries are open for a bit less than 3.5 hours so it seems likely today's opening-flight field will approach 200.
Level 2 is just beginning and they are over 80 entries now for Day 1a. That puts the prizes at $27,390 to start the second level of the day.
There are 65 players in their seats to start Day 1a of the 4-Flight. That puts the prizes at a bit more than $21k with action now ongoing in the first level of play. Entries are open tonight until about 8:30 PM, at the end of the break following Level 8.
Date: Day 1a/c: May 2/3, 2024, 4 PM, Day 1b/d: May 3/4, 2024, 11AM
Start Stack: 20,000
Blinds: 30 Min
Late Entry: 8 Levels (~8:30 PM/3:30 PM)
Day 1 Ends: 20 Levels or 5% of the field (Level 20 should end about 3 AM/11:30 PM)
The 4-Flight is among the most popular events of the series, and previous editions of the game have crushed local field size records. In January of this year, the field across all 4 starting days topped out at an astonishing 1,715 entries while last May's numbers hit 964.
The first flight gets going at 4 PM on Thursday with two more flights on Friday and a final shot at a bag on Saturday morning. Day 2 will pay out the big money on Sunday, but 15%-5% on Day 1 will also be heading home with money as Day 1 play goes until there are 5% of the field left, or until the end of Level 20, whichever comes first.
Entries are open for the first 8 levels of play on Day 1, which will put the last chance to enter at either 8:30 PM for the late start days, or 3:30 PM for the early start days. Day 1b & c of this event will be my focus on Friday, but for today, Day 1a won't get much coverage until after Event #2 is complete.
