The stacks are in and Gail Flaherty has the overall chip lead for Day 2 now. She bagged more than 900k and is the only player to crack that mark so far. The winner of this event in May, Peter Darlington, bagged the second-best 1c stack with 565k. Full chips for Day 1bc are under the Chip Counts tab and below. Seat assignments for Day 2 will be published once all the Day 1 flights are completed tomorrow evening.

Day 1c is now complete after John Sheppard ran into a flopped cooler. Gail Flaherty flopped straight when he flopped a set of fives and the money went in. He called for the board to pair, but his call wasn't answered and he was the final bust before the bags came out. Stay tuned for the stacks from 1c coming shortly.

Level 19 is about to begin and they are on the bubble to the end of the night with 14 players left in the action. Weston Pring and a DNR were the most recent exits in 16th and 15th places.
They are down to 16 left with just under 20 minutes to play in Level 18. Parth Patel was the most recent exit in 17th place for the first payout of $915.
They are down to 17 players left now after Glenn Slater hit the cage for $854 in 18th place. That means the bags will come out after just four more eliminations.
They are down to 18 players left now after Colten Yamagishi took 19th place tonight for $854. Weston Pring just found a double against Gail Flaherty when he shoved just under 100k with and Flaherty iso-raised with big slick. With cards on their backs Pring was preparing to leave, but he flopped open-ended and rivered the straight to stay alive and chip up to over 200k. Flaherty now has about the same as well.
Brad Bernier looks to be the big leader now with about 600k in front of him while Tom T has 420k. John Sheppard picked up a big pot right before the break against Laurence Louie when he called with jack-ten on a jack-high board but was facing two pair from Louie. The river paired a queen, however, to give Bernier a bigger two-pair and a big chip up to about 360k while Louie dropped to about 180k. NOhad Teliani is playing about 300k, as is Toms Varghese while the winner of this event in May, Peter Darlington, is sitting with about 340k right now late on Day 1c.
They are down to 19 now in Day 1c just 6 off the end of Day 1c. There are just over 5 minutes left to play in Level 16 with a break scheduled after this level.

The bubble burst right at the end of Level 14 and they are already down to 33 players left. It looks like Gail Flaherty is leading right now with 381k but May's winner Peter Darlington has about 300k. Colten Yamagishi and Laurence Louie are both playing about 260k while Nohad Teliani is on about 215k. Cole Harmon and Garry Chan are both sitting in the high 100s as well.

They are down to 38 left now on the bubble to the money. They are just finishing out the hands before the clock pauses for hand-for-hand play.
They are just three off the money now with the field at 40 left in Day 1c. They'll pause the clock for hand-for-hand play after two more eliminations. There are currently just under 20 minutes to play in Level 14 with the average stack at about 25 bigs.
They are down to 42 players left now in 1c with Cuong Lieu among the recent players to bow out before the money spots.
They got down to the final five tables just before the break with 45 players left now, just 8 off the money. Hand-for-hand play will start when they hit 38 players.
After a quick look around on the break, it looked like Garry Chan and Mehmet Siginc are about equal right now with about 180k each and I didn't see any other stacks that looked bigger. Siginc recently picked up a PLO win in the provincial capital for more than $9k.
They are just moments from the break at the end of level 12 with the field down to 49 players left now. That should mean they hit the bubble sometime in Level 13. Among the players I spotted in tonight's field are John Hashem, Doug Lee, Peter Darlington, Weston Pring, Brant Taylor, Colten Yamagishi, Hiro Harada, Cuong Liu, Alex Liu, Gail Flaherty, Nohad Teliani, and Toms Varghese.
There are just under 20 minutes to play in Level 12 now with a break scheduled after this level. They just broke a table to get down to 54 players remaining with 37 expecting a payday. It looks like they are playing a bit slower in this flight so I'm expecting 18 or 19 levels.
The numbers have all been compiled and the official field for Day 1c was 245 entries for prizes of $80,850. That puts the three-flight total at 595 entries and $196,350 in prizes.
With 245 entries, there will be 37 players getting paid tonight, or advancing to Day 2. At least 13 of them will get Day 2 seats, but it remains to be seen if they will play down that far tonight. There are fewer than 63 players remaining now, so they are closing in on the money spots with about 15 minutes to play in Level 11.
Flight 1b played significantly faster than 1a, despite the bigger field. While 1a played until the start of Level 19, 1b had the bags out with 20:35 remaining in Level 17.
10 players are advancing from 1b with Calgary's Dwayne Reid leading the charge. He has 850k in his bag while 2nd place David Ko bagged just under 500k.

It looks like the combined field through three flights in the 4-Flight is just shy of 600. There were 245 entries (unofficial) in 1c, which brings the total to 595 across the three flights so far, for prizes of $196,350.
Assuming the 1c numbers are confirmed, there will be $80,850 in the 1c prize pool with 37 places getting a piece of the prizes and at least 13 going through to Sunday's Day 2.
Flight 1b is down to 12 as the players return from their break. It seems likely that they won't see the start of Level 18 before the bags come out, but that remains to be seen. Cristituto Costales from Edmonton was the most recent player to cashout tonight.
They are down to 13 left with just over 5 minutes to play in Level 16 here on Day 1b. That puts them 3 off the end of the day so it looks likely Day 1b will end in Level 17 or early 18 after they return from the upcoming break. Dwayne Reid still looks to be playing the big stack of more than 500k.

The 1c field is up to 240 now with action in Level 8. This is the final level to get into tonight's flight, so the $200k prize pool is looking like a longer bet now, but $195k+ is a lock by the end of entries in about 25 minutes.

Flight 1b is down to 15 left with 10 players bagging stacks. There are a bit less than 10 minutes remaining in Level 15, so it looks like 1b is playing a fair bit quicker than 1a, which didn't end until the beginning of Level 19. With the current pace, 1b may not make the next break following Level 16, but action could slow as they approach the end-of-day bubble.

They are into the final two levels of entry over in the Chrome room for Flight 1c. The field is now up to 234 entries for prizes of $77,220 for 1c alone, and $192,720 in total. They'll need a total of 257 in 1c by the end of entries to cap $200k today so that's still with sight tonight.
Below is a look at the players who have cashed out so far tonight. Bear in mind I won't be updating the Payouts tab until Day 2, so I'll be reporting Day 1 payouts in table form within posts, but all payouts from Day 1 and 2 will get submitted to WSOP and Hendon Mob with those databases consolidating it all into a single payout list.

Among the players building stacks today and looking for a bag later is multiple ring and WPT winner David Ko. Ko is on fire this year with his 2nd and 3rd rings won here in Calgary in January and May, adding to his first from London last year. In addition to is on-table exploits, Ko has also recently become the Canadian ambassador for KKPoker so his career is very much on the upswing.
He is in the final 18 players now in Day 1b, sitting with a decent stack of close to 300k, which is among the bigger ones. Dwayne Reid looks to have the big one though as he's sitting on more than 500k.
Flight 1b is now down to 26 players on the final three tables. I'll update the payouts for Day 1b shortly but Levi Stevens and Annie Li were the two players to hit the cage for money so far tonight.
Meanwhile, over in the Chrome room, the 1c field is up to 223 now, which is just 40 away from May's total for 1c. So far, this event is playing a little smaller than May, but its still easily on pace to be the biggest field of the series.
They are now in the money in 1b with 28 players left. It's now a race to the finish with the game either playing until there are 10 players left, or until the end of Level 20, whichever comes first.
Flight 1b is now hand-for-hand to the money with 29 players left in action and 28 paid spots today. There are now 21:29 remaining in Level 14 and the clock is paused with 2 minutes coming off the clock manually for every hand played.
There are now 217 entries in Flight 1c, running in the Chrome room tonight with 146 players still in seats. Entries are still open for about 2.5 hours yet so it seems likely the filed size could near 250 before it shuts down.
They are down to 31 players left in Flight 1b now with 28 players expecting money tonight. Weston Pring was one of the players to hit the rail right after dinner, but my guess is he went straight over to Chrome to jump into 1c.
There are more than 200 entries in 1c now with action in Level 5. That means there are still about 2 hours left to enter the game so the numbers will keep climbing. It's looking good for a 1c field of ~250 with more than $200k in prizes before 1d even starts tomorrow.
There are 33 players left at the dinner break on flight 1b. They'll be back in action to play down to the 28 paid spots in about 15 minutes, and they should be hand-for-hand before the end of Level 13.
Flight 1c is playing in Level 4 now with the field up to 184 entries and combined prizes now more than $175k. It seems certain that the 1c field will easily cap 200 entries, and it seems pretty likely the total prizes will be at or above $200k by the time entries shutter for 1c. There are still about 2.5 hours left to enter 1c tonight, plus a full 1d to run tomorrow, with 1d promising to be the biggest flight yet.
The third flight to the 4-Flight is playing in Level 3 now with 151 entries on the board. That puts the three-flight total at 501 right now for $165,330 in total prizes. Day 1c prizes alone are now up to just shy of $50k.
Meanwhile, the second flight is playing down towards the money now with about 10 minutes to play in Level 12. There are 35 players left in the game now looking for 28 paid spots, and the dinner break is set for the end of this level, so it looks like the bubble will burst shortly after dinner.
Flight 1c is now in Level 2 with that action just beginning and 100 entries on the board already. That puts the combined three-flight field to 450 and the total prizes just shy of $150k now. Entries are open until about 8:30 for flight 1c with action going until about 3 am at the latest.
Meanwhile, flight 1b is sitting with fewer than 54 players remaining playing down to 28 paid spots and at least 10 Day 2 bags.
The field for Day 1b is confirmed at 183 for 350 in total across the first two flights. That means the 1b prize pool was $60,390 with $15,128 of that awarded later tonight to players who finish from 15% to 5%. The Day 1b pay will start at 28th place tonight, and they'll play down to at least 10 bags, though the game will bag at the end of Level 20 no matter what, even if they haven't hit 10 players yet, so it's possible that more than 10 players will go through from tonight's flight, and more of the prizes will roll to Day 2.
The 1b field is down to 63 left now on 7 tables. Among the players fighting for prizes or a bag later are double-ring and WPT winner David Ko, Andy Truong (who was on last night's E2 FT), Weston Pring (who cashed in E2 last night), Thomas Taylor, Cole Harman, Essam Saaddedine, King Wang, Youssef Hmada, Matt Kwong, Julius Roque, and Daniel O'Leary.
Day 1c is about to get underway in the Chrome room, but entries are now closed for Day 1b and the combined field for the two flights so far topped out at 350. I'm still waiting for confirmation of today's flight size, but it looks like 183 entries were recorded for 1b. If that holds, at least 10 players will bag stacks at the end of the night, while a total of 28, including those 10, will figure in the Day 1b prizes (or Day 2).
I'll confirm all the numbers in a bit once the 1b prizes are posted.
The players are just heading out for their second break of the day, and I'm clearly not fully awake as entries will close at the end of this break. I incorrectly stated earlier that there would still be two levels of entry, but as this is a 20k start stack, entries are shutting down at the start of Level 9 for these flights.
Level 8 has just begun and the players will head out for their second break of the day following this level. Entries will still be open for two more levels after this break, however, so there's lots of time for this flight to break 200 entries. Today's flight is already above the 167 for Day 1a, so things are looking good for a decent total field in this one, though based on yesterday's numbers it looks like this may be a little smaller than the May game was.
I was late getting to the floor today but with about 5 minutes to play in Level 7 the Day 1b field is up to 168 entries now for a two-flight total of 335 so far. Day 1c is starting later and I'll be updating both flights on this same page today. Not sure how well that will work, but last time when I tried to keep two pages active on the same day it was problematic both for me to keep track of and also for readers to find 1b info.
Event #3: | $400 4-Flight ($330 + $70) |
Date: | Day 1b: Aug 9, 2024, 11 am Day 1c: Aug 9, 2024, 4 pm |
Blinds: | 30 Min |
Start Stack: | 20,000 |
Late Entry: | 8 Levels (~3:30 pm or ~8:30 pm) |
Day 1 Ends: | 20 Levels or 5% (~3 am or ~10:30 pm) |
It's time for the first flight of the ever-popular 4-Flight. Traditionally this is the biggest field of the series by quite a bit and past iterations of this game have blown past 1,500 total entries so expect this to be a big one.
The opening flight kicks off at 4:00 pm on Aug 8 and they'll repeat the Day 1 action three more times, on Aug 9 at 11 am and 4 pm, and again on Aug 10 for the final flight at 11 am. Players get 20k in chips for their $400 and play half-hour levels throughout the game.
Entries are open for 8 levels on Day 1, which should mean entries close around 3:30 for the early flights and 8:30 for the later flights. Day 1 plays for 20 Levels or until they hit 5% of the starting field, and this is a Day 1 pay event, meaning that players who finish from 15% - 5% in the Day 1 flights will get paid some cash as they exit the game. Day 1 flights that go the distance will finish at about 10:30 pm for the early flights and 3 am for the late flights.
Day 1a saw 167 entries, which is down by 32 entries over flight 1a in May, Nine players bagged stacks for Day 2 while $14,246 of the $55,110 total collected for 1a was handed out during that flight.
I'll be following the early flights of this game on Friday and Saturday, but likely the later flights won't get much coverage until near the end of the day. Thursday was a very late day, so I will likely be quite late to the floor for Friday's flights.
