Ashkan Razavi Bags Big from 1a Posted Friday 16th August, 2024 at 01:23(UTC-7) by Lyle Bateman

20 stacks are going through to Day 2 from the opening flight to the Main Event and the biggest bag of all was Ashkan Razavi's. He bagged just shy of 1 million chips for Sunday's big day and was more than 400k ahead of his closest rival, Alex Liu with 539k. Ryan Smith and DJ Sharma also have stacks over 500k, while Khaly Dang is just below with 472k for 5th place.

Full stack details are under the Chip Counts tab.

Down to 22 Posted Friday 16th August, 2024 at 00:13(UTC-7) by Lyle Bateman

They are not rushing to the exits in Day 1a of the Main ... the pace of play has been near-glacial during this final level of the night. There are 20 minutes left in the nigh, and the field just dropped to 22, the first elimination since Level 16. No matter what, the bags will be out in less than 20 minutes.

23 Remain; Playing Until the End of Level 17, or 18 Players Posted Thursday 15th August, 2024 at 23:33(UTC-7) by Lyle Bateman

Level 16 is nearly complete with the first three min-cashers already recorded. That leaves them with 23 left and the final level of the night about to start. Level 17 will play for an hour before the hard stop, but the game will bag up tonight with 18 players remaining at most, so five more eliminations will bring out early bags.

In the Money on Day 1a of the Main Posted Thursday 15th August, 2024 at 22:18(UTC-7) by Lyle Bateman

There are 25 minutes to play in Level 15 with the final break of the day scheduled following this level, and the money bubble just burst when Turbo $1k winner Teddy Thalhuber bubbled the money spots. It's a pretty stacked field remaining including one table with Ryan Smith, Ashkan Razavi, Mehmet Siginc, STeve Desjarlais, Nicholas Lee, Chris Alcindor, Malcolm Bolger, and Michael Smith all sitting there.

That's not the only stacked table either. Another one has Ronnie Dattani, Alex Liu, Cindy Kerslake, Ryan Cairns, DJ Sharma, Gary Rooprai, and Ziwen Liu. Chris Alcindor just busted first in the money today to bring the field to 25.

Almost $250k So Far Posted Thursday 15th August, 2024 at 16:11(UTC-7) by Lyle Bateman

They are in Level 7 in Day 1a of the main with 164 entries on the board right now. That puts the prizes at $248,460 with about 4 hours left to enter the game. I'm not watching this one very closely until later in the day when the Monster is finally slain.

Main Event Time! Posted Thursday 15th August, 2024 at 03:40(UTC-7) by Lyle Bateman

Event #11:

$1,700 Main ($1515 + $185)

Date: Day 1a: Aug 15, 2024, 11 am
Day 1b:
Aug 16, 2024, 11 am
Day 1c: Aug 17, 2024, 11 am
Day 2:
Aug 18, 2024, noon
Blinds: 40/60 Min
Start Stack: 40,000
Day 1 Entries: 12 Levels (~8:30 PM)
Day 1 Ends: Level 18 (~12:45 am)

It's time for the big show! The Main Event kicks off at 11 am on Thursday with the first of three flights to Sunday's Day 2. There will be a Day 3 on Monday if required with Day 2 scheduled to play until Level 28.

Players start the day with 40k in chips with Day 1 blinds at 40 minutes,  bumping to 60 for Day 2. There are 12 levels of entry on Day 1 with the final shot at entry around 8:30 pm. Players are limited to a single rebuy for the Main, so use your bullets wisely.

I likely won't have eyes on the first two flights of the Main as there are Day 2 games running both Thursday and Friday that I'll be watching, but my main attention should be firmly focussed on the Main for Day 1c (with a bit of extra bandwidth for the Ladies, I hope.
