Chun Kwan has had quite a series here at Deerfoot. The Hong Kong native took down the Turbo $1k earlier in the series for his first ring, and he just took down #2 in the High Roller tonight.
I wasn't able to watch much of the action as this game was playing pretty much simultaneously with the final day of the Main Event, but I did manage to catch the final hands between Garret Maybery and Kwan. Kwan was the huge chip leader at that point and in the final hand, Maybery shoved the turn of an ace-high board with ace-eight and Kwan called him off with ace-five.
It looked like Maybery would double with the best kicker, but Kwan nailed his five kicker on the river for two pair and the win. Kwan won more than $100k in the series, and that now gives him two wins in four recorded cashes while he more than doubled his lifetime earnings.
They are down to six left in the High Roller. Varan Sidhu was the 7th place finisher tonight after his kings were cracked by a running flush. He even turned the set, but it gave his opponent the flush draw which came in on the river.
I'm still focused on the Main with 4 players left over there, but the HR is down to 7 left now with Kyle Ho and Jan 2022 Main Event champ Cody McKay as the most recent exits.
Manvir Dhaliwal asked that his picture not be taken, but here is a look at the rest of the final 10 tonight. Georg Jancev busted out shortly after they got to the final 10 to leave 9 players left in the HR.
The High Rollers are in their first break of the day with 13 players left. Prizes are updated in the Payouts tab, though 15th place is still unknown.
They are down to 15 in the High Roller now with the start of Level 19. Prizes are updated in the Payouts tab to 16th place, with the exception of 19th, who hasn't had their payslip authorized yet.
The high roller sare now in the money with 23 players left.
Tey just hit the bubble in the High Roller with 24 players left. They are now hand-for-hand until the next elimination.
The High Rollers are back at the felt with 25 left and 23 paid spots. I won't be watching this one much until the Main Event hands out the ring, but I should be able to put periodic updates on the results through the day.
Tang Jooce is the big leader going into the final day of play in the High Roller on Monday. He bagged a stack of 888k for the lead, while Jerry Li is second with just 1k shy of 500k.Homan Mohammadi from Vancouver is in third, just behind Li, while Turbo $1k winner Chun Kwan is 4th with 410k. Jan 2022 Main Event winner Cody McKay rounds out the top five for Day2. A quick Honourable mention goes to Darlene Lee who bagged a small stack of 74k, but she was down to just 1,000 a couple of levels before the end of the day, so she ran it back up pretty nicely for a shot at a cash.
Action kicks off at 1 PM and they'll play down to a winner on Monday. They are returning for Level 16 just 2 players off the money, so expect the bubble to go pretty quickly. Blinds will remain at 40 minutes throughout the tournament.

Day 1 is over and there are 25 players on the board at the end of Level 15. I'll confirm that number once the bags are collected and I get the chips updated shortly.
There are about 15 minutes to play in Day 1 and they are now three off the money with 26 players left, so it looks like an even bet whether they are in the money or not when they bag.
The High Rollers are into their final level of the night now with 33 players left. There are just over 30 minutes to play until they bag so it's looking ever more likely that they won't be in the money when the bags come out.
They are 12 off the money in the High Roller now with just over 10 minutes to play in Level 14 and Level 15 as the final level for the night. It looks likely that they'll break for the night still outside the money, but there's still about 50 minutes of poker to play before the bags come out.
The High Roller entries are now closed with 151 entries confirmed. That puts the prizes just shy of $300k and means first place tomorrow will pocket $77,119. Full prizes are listed under the Payouts tab.
They are up to 137 entries now in the High Roller for $269,205 in prizes. Level 10 has about 5 minutes to play, and there are two more levels of late entry after this one.
The prize pool is now over $250k with 128 entries on the board. There are a bit more than 5 minutes to play in Level 9 with a break scheduled after this level.
The High Roller is up to 120 entries now with Level 8 about halfway complete. There are still 81 players in the game with about 3.5 hours left in the late entry period.
The prizes are almost at $215k now with the players on their second break of the day at the end of Level 6.
The High Roller players are about 20 minutes from their next break with action in Level 6 and the prizes over $200k. There are now 106 entries on the board.
They are closing in on $180k in prizes now with more than 90 entries for the high roller to start Level 5. Entries are open until the end of the break following Level 12, and they'll play three more levels after that before they bag for the night.
There are 81 entries in the High Roller now with just under 30 minutes to play in Level 4. That puts the current prize pool at $159,165 with the next entry pushing it over $160k.
The field for the High Roller is up to 73 entries at the first break for prizes of $143,445. They'll be back in action for Level 4 in just over 10 minutes
There are 66 entries on the board to start Level 3, and the players will head out on their first break of the day following this level. Among the other players I've spotted in the game are DJ Sharma and Tang Jooce, both of whom jumped in from the Main, as well as Brant Taylor, David Ko, Gary Rooprai, Hassan Issa, Ryan Smith, Roman Brar, Weston Pring, and the winner of Event #9, Christopher "Pokin StaR" Alcindor.
Level 2 has about 15 minutes to play now with the field up to 61 entries now. A lot of the players who have busted from Day 2 of the Main are jumping right into this one, including Johnny Yu, Mal Hagan, Andy Truong, and Colten Yamagishi. Other players in the High Roller so far include Paul Sokoloff, Deven Lane, Stephen Dauphinais, Ashkan Razavi, Homan Mohammadi, and Michael "Berny" Bernstein.
The High Roller game is now underway with four tables in action and 33 players in their seats for Level 1. I made an error in my timings for today ... entries will be open until about 10:45 PM with the bags coming out around 1 AM tonight for the end of Level 15.
Date: May 12, 2024, 2 PM
Start Stack: 40k
Blinds: 40 Min
Late Entry: 12 Levels (~10:45 PM)
Day 1: 15 Levels (~1:00 AM)
The second last ring event is about to get underway this afternoon with the High Roller. For $2,200, players get 40k in chips to play 40-minute levels throughout the tournament.
The action kicks off at 2 PM and players will have about 6 hours and 45 minutes to enter the game with Day 1 scheduled to last about 9 hours before they bag up at the end of Level 15.
I will likely be focused on the Main Event until they decide a winner, so that will likely mean I won't be watching the High Roller very closely until at least tomorrow but I'll try to keep numbers updated through the day today.
